Talks on homelessness as part of Action Week

A SERIES of talks will be held over the coming week to raise awareness about homelessness as part of Poverty and Homelessness Action Week.

Members of staff from the Brighton Housing Trust in Eastbourne will be taking the opportunity to talk to churches and community groups about the work they do, services they provide and the clients they work with.

Andy Winter, BHT’s chief executive, said, “Last year alone, in partnership with a number of organisations across the county, we helped over 8,000 local people. Our advice centres in Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings assisted almost 10,000 people who came to us seeking legal or debt advice, help accessing welfare benefits, help with housing issues or help in finding accommodation. Poverty and Homelessness Action Week provides us with an opportunity to talk about our work, the need for our services and how we are helping to move people forward from poverty and homelessness and onto a more positive future.”

BHT representatives will be speaking at events over Poverty and Homelessness Action Week and the months ahead. Any churches or community groups interested can contact Jo Berry on 01273 645464.
