Stroke Club bowled over by donation
The organisation received a cheque for 510
A SEAFORD club has received a financial boost thanks to a donation of more than £500.
Every season the Crouch Lane Short Mat Bowls Club raises funds for a local charity and this year the team decided to support the Stroke and Carers Club.
The group meets every Monday at St James Centre in Seaford.
Earlier this month a cheque for £510 was presented to club leader, Joyce Woodgate.
The money was raised by members of the Crouch Lane Short Mat Bowls Club who play three days a week at the Constitutional Club.
During the season if any member of the bowls club hits the centre block on the mat a donation is put into the charity box.
To boost further funds two fun days were organised. At Christmas all members wore a festive item of clothing and paid £1 to play.
At the end of the season it was a Western theme and the members dressed as a Cowboys or Indians. During the sessions games were played and raffles were held, the proceeds of which were donated to the charity.
