Street soccer star inspired by dentist

THE STAR of a new documentary film about street football in South Africa is trying to trace a former Eastbourne dentist who plucked him off a rubbish dump and inspired him.

Vuyani Madolo, known as Biza, wants to make contact with Brian Court, who he believes is a retired dentist and may be living in the Eastbourne area.

Biza was living on a rubbish dump several years ago in South Africa when Mr Court plucked him to safety and helped him turn his life around.

Since then Biza has coached the Umthombo Street Children football team as it prepared for the first Street Child World Cup in Durban and now wants to let Mr Court know how grateful he is for his intervention.

The documentary film follows a group of Durban street children as they compete for places in the South African squad for the tournament, which brings together vulnerable and overlooked street children from around in the world in a better and brighter future.

Biza, who is responsible for the team, was recently at the film’s world premiere and said, “It’s great to see the team on screen – this is a brilliant film.

“I never thought I’d be signing autographs. I’ve gone from nothing to something.”

Biza’s friend Adrian Reith said, “Biza would love to make contact with Brian Court so if anyone in Eastbourne knows where he is, please get in touch.”
