Opening of new mental health unit
A NEW unit for people being treated for mental health issues opens in Hellingly on Friday (February 3).
The Hellingly Centre, is a new “medium secure” mental health development built on the grounds of the old Hellingly Hospital and will help people from all over Sussex.
The centre will provide three new 15-bed wards and a range of therapies adjacent to the existing Ashen Hill unit.
A spokeswoman for Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, said, “The new unit has been designed and built to meet the latest national standards for security and dignity in a mental health setting.
“This is the largest single capital development by Sussex Partnership and underlines its role as a leading specialist provider of mental health services.”
