EASTBOURNE mayor Carolyn Heaps joined medics carrying out blood pressure checks at a Rotary Club of Eastbourne stroke awareness day in the Arndale Centre.

Cllr Heaps, an experienced nurse, joined her old friends and colleagues from the DGH coronary care unit. Rotary has supported the Stroke Association for more than 10 years and the medical team took 191 blood pressures during the day. Seven people were alerted that they needed urgent medical attention. The hospital’s organ donor team also attended and signed up 32 people for the register.
