HELLINGLY School has welcomed a new headteacher to coincide with its centenary year.
Last month Kyra Ward took over the reins at the school, following a successful stint as deputy head at Stafford Junior School in Eastbourne.
She told the Gazette, “I’ve had a great welcome from parents, children and staff.
“Hellingly is a good school but our aim now is the drive to be outstanding.
“We hope to achieve this with support from the children.
“With this in mind we are developing a pupil leadership team made up of six children in Year 6 who will become part of the senior leadership team here at Hellingly.
“They will be part of all the school development planning to make sure pupil voice is clear and heard across the school, and they will work closely with our school council to achieve this.”
The new headteacher said she was looking forward to working closely with other schools in the area.
