Fundraiser promises day of ’60s nostalgia

MEMORIES of the sixties and a live unplugged performance are on offer at a fundraising show at Chalk Farm Hotel.

John Lennon, Mick Jagger, Jimi Hendrix, the Who and the Kinks will all be part of a nostalgic trip back to the Sixties at the hotel in Willingdon on Sunday 27 May.

The day will start with a drop-in coffee morning and free exhibition of never-before-seen 60s rock star photographs from 11 to 1pm.

Photographer Barry Norman will be on hand to discuss the iconic shots he took at cult TV show Ready Steady Go.

In the afternoon Eastbourne writer and musician Tony Norman will talk about his recently published book My Cool Sixties which features anecdotes about growing up in London as a rock writer and Mod bass guitarist.

The recollections will be will be backed by some acoustic versions of Sixties songs with Al Collins (harmonica) and Bruce Pont (percussion).

Tickets for My Cool Sixties Live are 10, which includes a light buffet and glass of wine.

All proceeds will go to the Chalk Farm Disabilities Centre, which provides training and work experience for adults with learning disabilities.
