First-time lucky for runner Abby

THE winner of Eastbourne’s Race for Life was a 24-year-old woman from Langney Point.

Abby Tivey, of Rodney Close, took part in the race for Cancer Research with thousands of other women.

Abby was the fastest participant to run the 5km, with a time of 20 minutes and two seconds.

It was the first race she had ever run and she said she was delighted with her achievement.

She said, “I train at the David Lloyd gym every day. It was my first ever race though, I usually just stick to the gym.”

Organisers say 2,000 women walked, jogged and ran the Eastbourne course raising thousands of pounds for the cancer charity.
