WALKING club - On Sunday February 26 John will be pleased to meet with you at Hailsham Leisure Centre at 10am for an eight-mile walk over Glynleigh Levels. He suggests you take along some lunch and if anybody needs further information or a lift to the meeting point then call 848790.
CHURCH services : On Wednesday, February 22, Ash Wednesday, will see Wartling Church holdan Imposition of Ashes/Holy Communion at 7pm and then on Sunday, February 26 the first Sunday of Lent, Holy Communion (BCP) is at Herstmonceux church at 8am with Matins (BCP) being held at Wartling church at 9.45am and Evensong (BCP) at the Friends Meeting House in West End, Herstmonceux at 6pm.
1960s DANCE night: The very popular dance night with live music by City Rhodes Sounds, will this year be on Saturday April 14 at the village hall Herstmonceux with proceeds going to the Eastbourne Branch of Parkinson’s UK. Tickets, £10 each, include a ploughman’s supper and are available from Dawn and Cecil on 8323304 - book early to avoid disappointment.
QUIZ: This Friday, February 24, the Herstmonceux Health Centre will host their very first quiz night at the village hall in Herstmonceux hoping to raise as much money as possible for equipment for their new surgery. Entrance is £5 per head and for an extra £5 you can also enjoy a great fish’n’chips supper. Entry forms are available at the surgery.
WINDMILL Hill Horticultural Society hold their next monthly meeting at the Reid Hall in Boreham Street on Thursday, March 1, when Andrew Fletcher will speak about Growing and Showing Sweet Peas.
A fun competition is also being run that evening and all they want is you to go along with four own-made Hot Cross Buns.
Doors of the hall open at 7pm with the meeting commencing at 7.30pm.
BINGO: Wednesday, February 29, and it’s bingo time again at the village hall at Herstmonceux.
Eyes down at 2.15pm, books of 12 games jut £3 with tea and cakes served during the interval and of course the raffle.
A note to all bingo players about Michael who until a while back had been their caller. As you know he has been unwell for some time but I spoke to him recently and he is making steady progress and wishes you all well.
ON A personal note - many may know Terry and I have had a bit of a rough time just recently. At the time of writing Terry is actually in hospital but hopes to be home in the next couple of days.
We would both like to thank all who have shown such concern and have helped in many ways especially to everybody at both the Ninfield and Windmill Hill Surgery and in particular, Mary, Dr Singh, Dr Warden and Julie. I have e great admiration for the Macmillan Nurses/Hospice at Home care team and district nurses who always seem to be just a call away, nothing has been too much trouble
Again, thanks to everybody, where would we be without you all?
