RED LION: From 7pm to 9pm on Thursday, April 12, Alan Grindle will cook one of his special recipes as part of the monthly Red Lion on Tour. This month’s recipe is ‘a secret’ and it is advisable to book on 502062.
TRIANGLE Lace Club members meet at Trinity Church Hall in Coppice Avenue, 10am-2pm on Saturday, April 14. There is a trade stand with lace supplies and equipment, and guidance on the art of lace making can be given. The cost including tea and coffee is £2.50. CONCERT: There is an afternoon of light musical entertainment in aid of the RNIB at Wannock Village Hall at 3pm on Saturday, April 14. Among those taking part are guitarist Gabrielle Stephens, oboist Tim Willsone, flutist Christina Lynn, pianist Brian Steer, soprano Janice Goss-Turner and baritone Mike Barber. SING-A-LONG: Tickets are selling fast for the ABBA experience hosted by Concentus Chorale at Willingdon Community School in Broad Road on Saturday, April 14. The main characters are on stage, led by musical director Adrian White and the chorus is the whole audience seated round tables ready to sing from song sheets provided. ST MARY’S Church Ramblers meet at 10.30am at Chalk Farm in Coopers Hill, Willingdon, for a four and a half mile flat walk from Pevensey Levels via Rickney Lane and Chilley Farm. You are welcome to go along.
JEVINGTON CHURCH: Those on the electoral roll at St Andrew’s Church, Jevington, are welcome to attend and vote at the annual meeting at 7.30pm on Tuesday, April 17, in Jevington Village Hall. Two churchwardens, two deanery synod representatives and two parochial church members are needed to complete membership of the Parochial Church Council.
ART TUITION: Teresa Currie will be running a six-week art course in the newly-refurbished community room at Trinity Church starting on Wednesday, April 18 7pm-9pm. The course will cover drawing skills, watercolour techniques, pen and ink drawing, pastel and charcoal, figure drawing, perspective drawing, and acrylic and mixed media. Refreshments will be provided. The cost is £10 per session or £50 for all six. Ring Teresa on 501231.

GOLF DAY: Every April Willingdon Cricket Club challenges Willingdon Football Club to an annual golf competition for the John Beck Trophy in memory of former Dons Football Club’s secretary and well-known local football administrator John Beck. This year’s competition is in support of local charity ‘Chloe’s Fight for Sight’. The Nunney family has been involved with the football and cricket clubs through their son Paul.
The event is on Friday, April 27, at Willingdon Golf Club - tee-off 1pm. Footballers and cricketers will pair off in twos and the presentations will then place followed by an evening meal at the golf club.
