CLASSICAL guitarist Gabrielle Stephens gives the lunchtime concert in All Soul’s Church, Susan’s Road, today (Wednesday) at 1pm. Next week there will be a showcase of local talent.
THE SAMARITANS hold an informal information session tomorrow (Thursday) at 7.30pm at The Haven, Bolton Road. Due to increased demand on services, they are anxious to recruit extra volunteers to help with the phone or face-to-face callers. This session would help you to find out more about volunteering with this charity.
ON SATURDAY, May 26, The Evergreen Singers perform at the coffee morning in the Under Ground Theatre, Grove Road, 10am-noon.
At 7.30pm a professional drama entitled Born in the Gardens set in 1979 UK is being performed by the Creative Cow Theatre Company.

ALSO on Saturday, May 26, at 7.30pm in All Saints Church, Grange Road, the Phoenix Choir presents Happy and Glorious, a musical celebration to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Tickets, £10, at the door.
THE Eastbourne Ramblers Club hosts a leisurely five-mile walk from Wilmington Priory to Alfriston on Saturday (May 26). Meet at the Avenue, opposite Avenue House at 9.30am to arrange transport. The ramble will include some stiles, hills and road walking. There will be a coffee stop at Alfriston.
ON Sunday, May 27, the Eastbourne Chinese Association celebrates the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and its own 10th anniversary, in the Town Hall, from 12.30pm. The event will include the spectacular Dragon Dance and other performances by Chinese artistes. Tickets £5 in advance or £10 on the day, call 0777152867. ON TUESDAY, May 29, at 2.30pm, the Friendship Hour in Central Methodist Church Hall, Langney Road, will welcome Phil Evans to talk on the subject Out and About. All are welcome and there will be a bring and buy table. There is no meeting on June 5 because of the Jubilee celebrations.
FOR YOUR baby to be baptised into the Roman Catholic Faith, a registration form needs to be completed and returned to the parish office. The forms are obtainable from the back of Our Lady of Ransom Church, by the town hall.
AGE CONCERN runs a Home from Hospital service for those more than 60 years of age who are about to leave hospital and live alone. They can visit in hospital or at home, up to three weeks after leaving hospital and can help with things such as collecting prescriptions, doing the shopping, preparing a light lunch or accompanying to hospital or the doctors, as well as acquiring equipment or contacting other services. EVERY good wish is extended to Rev. Jenny Yule, associate minister at St. Andrew’s URC, Blackwater Road, as she takes over ministerial responsibility for the Methodist/URC Broadway Church, Hampden Park and St. Barnabas United Church, Kingfisher Drive, Langney. She succeeds Rev. Philip Osborne who is taking early retirement.
THE Healthy Start Scheme provides a weekly voucher to purchase fruit, vegetables and milk, plus entitlement to free vitamin supplements every eight weeks, for antenatal and new mums and children up to four years.
Vitamin vouchers can be exchanged at Avenue House, Monday to Friday, 10am-2pm, and from the Devonshire Children’s Centre on Mondays, 1.30pm-3pm and Tuesdays, 9.30am-3.30pm.
If you are not entitled to Healthy Start suitable supplements may be purchased from your local pharmacy or supermarket.
