Down Your Way: Town Centre - May 2
ON SATURDAY, May 5, from 10am–1pm there is a Spring Fayre in the Methodist Church Hall, Langney Road, in aid of church funds. There will be a variety of stalls, including homemade cakes, garden produce and toiletries, with morning coffee and lunches being served.
ALSO on Saturday more than 500 vintage modern, classic and vintage vehicles will be at Princes Park from 11am. Live music, a miniature railway and refreshments will be available at this event, which runs until Bank Holiday Monday with free admission. On the Sunday morning more than 200 vehicles will parade along the seafront from the Western Lawns to Princes Park.
ON SATURDAY, May 5, a coffee morning is being held in the Salvation Army Citadel Community Hall, 10am. Homemade cakes will be available for sale.
EASTBOURNE Ramblers Club hosts a five-mile level walk on Saturday, starting at Pevensey Bay Station Bus stop at 10am and concluding at Sovereign Harbour at 12.30pm. On Bank Holiday Monday there is an 11-mile ramble in Friston Forest. Meet at Exceat Visitors centre at 10am. A break will be made for lunch at Alfriston.
ANDREW Voller will display paintings in the foyer of the Under Ground Theatre as part of the Art Underground idea, 10am–4pm every Friday and Saturday from May 5 to August 25. The coffee bar will be open during viewing times. Louis Chavennes (vocal) and Mike Hatchard (piano) will be playing at the coffee morning on May 5.
ON THURSDAY, May 3, Graham Booth will display his stamps on the Sussex and Cumbria Penny Post at the Eastbourne and South Downs Stamp Club. All interested in postal history are very welcome.
ON TUESDAY, May 8, Caroline Heaps will talk about her two years as Mayor, to the Friendship Hour at the Methodist Church Hall, Langney Road at 2.30pm.
THE SUMMER lunchtime concerts recommence at 1pm on Wednesday, May 9, at All Soul’s Church, Susans Road, when Steve Brocklesby and Linda Francis present a mixture of modern songs. You are welcome to bring a picnic lunch to eat whil listening - drinks will be available.
ON THURSDAY, May 10, Eastbourne Blind Society has an open day at the centre, 124 Longstone Road. Organisations attending include Homeware, Optelec, Sight and Sound, Care for the Carers, Wiltshire Farm Foods and the RNIB, who will have a comprehensive range of aids and equipment.
ON SATURDAY, May 12, a Tea Chat Shop is being held in Holy Trinity Church Hall, Trinity Place, from 2.30pm-3.45pm. Admission is free .
,ON MONDAY May 14, at 1pm in St. Saviour’s Church, South Street, Ian Collins will give a song recital.
THE Eastbourne Gilbert and Sullivan Society present The Gondoliers at the Congress Theatre, beginning on Tuesday, May 8 nightly at 7.30pm. There will be matinee performances on the Wednesday and Saturday at 2.30pm.
