ON Saturday, May 19, Eastbourne Ramblers Club take a brisk-pace, nine-mile ramble, starting at Firle Beacon car park at 9.30am. It will finish at 1pm at a local pub. Meet at the Avenue at 9am to arrange transport.
On Wednesday, May 23, is a four-mile ramble to view the Herstmonceux Observatories. Meet at the Herstmonceux Science Centre at 6.30 pm.
A COFFEE morning is being held on Saturday (May 19) at the Underground Theatre, Grove Road, 10am-noon, when Chris Harris will play ballads and show tunes with a ‘sing a long’.
The coffee bar will open until 4pm for viewing Andrew Vollers Art Exhibition in the Foyer.
At 7.30pm Louisa Dale and Graham Phillips will give an evening of song. Tickets £10 are available at the coffee morning, the TIC or at the door.
On the following Friday (May 25) the Andy Panayi Quartet will play the music of Cole Porter and on Saturday (May 26) the Evergreen Singers, with violinist Annabel Sadler, will sing show tunes at the coffee morning, 10am–noon, and in the evening the Creative Cow Theatre Company presents the drama Born in the Gardens set in 1979. Tickets £10.
THE all-female Sovereign Polyphony Choir will give a Spring Time concert at 7.30pm on Saturday, May 19, in St Andrew’s United Reformed Church, Blackwater Road. Tickets £5 to include programme, with proceeds going to the Eastbourne Blind Society.
ON TUESDAY, April 22, Emma Morton will talk about the Old Town Community to members of The Friendship Hour, in the Central Methodist Church Hall, Langney Road at 2.30pm. Both ladies and gentlemen are welcome.
BEGINNING the week of Tuesday, May 22, until Saturday, the Eastbourne Operatic and Dramatic Society presents the musical Guys and Dolls 7.30pm nightly with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday 2.30pm.
ON Wednesday, May 23, The Saffrons Ladies Club, which meets in St. Saviour’s Church Hall, South Street, at 10am, will have a speaker from St Wilfrid’s Hospice. Visitors are welcome on payment of £1
CLASSICAL guitarist Gabriel Stephens will give the lunchtime concert in All Soul’s Church, Susan’s Road at 1pm on Wednesday, May 23. You may eat you lunch while listening to the music.
ON Mondays, in the WRVS Centre, Hyde Road, complementary therapy sessions are held for hands or feet, back, shoulders or neck, as well as facial, pedicures, reflexology, or manicures. To book, call Ann Caira on 720876. On Tuesdays a Craft Group meets 10am-noon.
FOR all who are 12-weeks pregnant or more and would like to meet other parents-to-be in a safe and friendly environment, there is a Bumps-4-lunch group at the Devonshire Children’s Centre, Seaside from 9.30am-12.30pm. THE Eastbourne Blind Centre advises that with the introduction of Digital TV at the end of May, you will be able to access Audio Description of screen scenes . This has been developed to aid viewers with sight problems. This is not available on all channels and only on some Freeview receivers. It is already on Freesat and Sky.
