Down Your Way: Sovereign Harbour - May 16

AT THE Sovereign Harbour Residents Association (SHRA) AGM, members overwhelmingly endorsed a motion by Chairman, Rick Runalls, that £500 of the Association’ funds should be donated to the Eastbourne Lifeboat appeal.

On Sunday May 13 at the lifeboat station, the new SHRA Chairman, Jan Weeks, presented a cheque for £500 to the lifeboat operations manager, Paul Metcalf.

THE SOVEREIGN Harbour Eastbourne Carnival Action Team (SHECAT) will meet parents of Haven School pupils at the Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club at 7pm on Wednesday, May 16 to discuss costumes for the children.After the meeting, a visit to the construction site will possibly be made. A BROCHURE summarising the contents of the Supplementary Planning Document for the Sovereign Harbour neighbourhood has been delivered to all harbour households. Residents can make their comments on the enclosed feedback form, or by following the link from the home page of the Borough Council website: www.eastbourne.gov.uk. A public consultation event is being organised at the Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club on Saturday June 3. The consultation closes on July 24.

PROVIDED there are no “adverse weather events” work on the Sovereign Harbour beaches has finished until the autumn. The dredger Sospan Dau will be undertaking the usual summer beach recharge at some time, but no date has yet been scheduled.

THE HARBOUR WI Craft Club meeting on May 21 will feature a card making demonstration by Christine French. The Craft Club meets on the third Monday of the month at 2pm in Pevensey Bay Baptist Church Hall. More details at www.shra.co.uk/wi or call Frances Harrap on 472649.

SOVEREIGN Polyphony will singat St Luke’s, Stone Cross on Friday May 18, and at St Andrews in the town centre on Saturday May 19; both concerts start 7.45pm.

CHESTNUT Tree House is inviting you to gather your girlfriends and let your star shine for a Night to Remember - a 10-mile walk along Eastbourne’s seafront, including the marina promenades, to raise money for Chestnut Tree House, the only children’s hospice in Sussex. This year’s walk will start at midnight on Saturday May 19 at the Sovereign Centre.
