Down Your Way: Sovereign Harbour - April 18
THE Draft Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for the Sovereign Harbour neighbourhood has been published. This document reinforces the neighbourhood vision in the Eastbourne Plan 2006-2027 - Core Strategy and outlines proposals for the completion of the harbour development.
The plans will be considered by planning and cabinet committees before further consultation. The final document will be submitted for inclusion in the Eastbourne Plan later this year. The SPD can be downloaded from www.shra.co.uk/news.html.
DREDGING of the outer harbour was delayed when Sospan Dau’s propeller was fouled by a fishing net, resulting in a trip to dry dock to remove it. Sospan is now operational again and work should be completed this week. During the work, the Eastbourne Lifeboat will remain in lock two.

THE West Harbour Bridge (next to the Harvester) is closed for two weeks from April 16 for essential maintenance; there will be no pedestrian access during this period.
AROUND 50 members attended the April meeting of the Sovereign Harbour Social Club, where guests were Nigel Lockwood from Guide Dogs and Steve Pratt and his dog.
The club presented Nigel with a cheque for £25, and members also contributed £42.90 in a bucket collection, which will be added to the money being raised by the Rotary Club of Sovereign Harbour through the Harbour Walk.
THE excellent Eastbourne street map in the centre of the 2012 issue of the Visit Eastbourne brochure now, for the first time, includes Sovereign Harbour. Thanks to the generosity of Eastbourne Borough Council, the map can be viewed on the SHRA website: www.shra.co.uk/eastbournemap.html.
MEETINGS of the Sovereign Harbour Debating Society resume in the Simply Italian Annex on April 18 2.30pm-4pm, under its new name Eastbourne Sovereign Harbour Discussion Group.
