COFFEE Mornings at Christ Church resume today (Wednesday) following an Easter break. Doors open 9.30am and there will be a number of small stalls, a raffle, and free computer training will also be available. Admission free.
THE Friendship Club for senior citizens meets tomorrow (Thursday), in the lounge of Duke Bernard Court, Latimer Road, 2.15pm- 3.45pm. Members meet on a social basis to chat over - tea, or take part in quizzes and games. A weekly subscription of 50p covers the cost of refreshments. More details from Hazel or Dick on 722450.
ST AGNES Church Social Group meets in the hall, Whitley Road, on Thursday April 19 at 2pm. All are welcome.
A WHIST Drive for everyone who enjoys a friendly game of cards will be held in St Augustine’s Hall of Christ Church on Thursday, April 19 starting 2pm. The cost is £2.50 per person. For details ring Gladys on 720885.
THE Pudding and Wine Club will has an early St George’s Day celebration on Friday, April 20, noon for 12.30pm, when the best English food will be served, accompanied by a different English wine with each course. To book, call 731451.
A ST GEORGE’S Celebration will take place in St Agnes Church hall on Saturday, April 21, from approximately 6pm onwards, with music, raffle, and fish and chip supper. Book with Bernadette on 487887, or Mary on 735475 as soon as possible.
JAZZ Sunday Lunches begin at the Langham Hotel on Sunday, April 22, noon-3pm, when the Carl Greenwood Trio perform American Songbook jazz standards, and will be held monthly. For information or to book call 731451.
CHRIST Church’s Annual Parochial Church Meeting, open to anyone who lives within the parish of Christ Church, is at noon on Sunday April 22 and will be chaired by the Rural Dean, the Very Revd Jeffery Gunn.
On the same afternoon, clergy and members of Christ Church will also hold a service at the DGH for patients at 5pm. If you would like to attend or can help escort patients from the wards, call 749653 during office hours or email admin@ccwithsp.org There is no Evensong at Christ Church that evening.
THE NHS Retirement Fellowship, for all who have worked in the medical profession, holds its AGM on Thursday April 26, starting at 2pm, at the Eastbourne Blind Centre in Longstone Road. For more information, call Hazel on 483454.
ITEMS are currently needed for a Jubilee Fair that will be held at Christ Church on May 26. Good quality items, and any red, white and blue material for making craft items to sell, can be taken to the church on Wednesday or Thursday mornings when there will be someone available to take them from you.
