Down Your Way: Old Town - May 23

THE FRIENDS of Eastbourne District General Hospital holds its first open gardens of the season on Wednesday, May 23, 10.30am-12.30pm and 2pm-4pm. They are situated at 10 & 12 Old Camp Road and entry is by donation. Visitors can enjoy morning coffee and afternoon tea while enjoying the beautiful gardens. There will be plant and cake stalls. All money raised will go towards The Friends of the Eastbourne Hospitals’ two major projects for 2012.

EASTBOURNE Storytellers next meeting on Wednesday, May 23, from 7.30pm at The Drive Pub, Victoria Drive. This month’s sporting/unsporting theme for the first part of the meeting will be ‘Maiden Over!’ The theme can be interpreted as freely or directly as tellers wish. GREENFIELD Methodist Church invites you to its Spring Fair. The Old Town-based church’s latest fundraising event is from 10am-12.30pm on Saturday, May 26. There will be colourful stalls including homemade cakes, bric-a-brac, books, plants and even a chocolate tombola. There will also be refreshments, including hot dogs.

THE Farmers Market, is at the Community Wise Centre, Ocklynge Road, on Saturday, May 26, from 10am-12.30pm. The market is packed with fresh local home-made produce and healthy foods, including bread, meat, preserves, spices, cakes, scones and fudge, plus lots of exciting crafts, all at reasonable prices. Refreshments available all morning and everyone is welcome.

THE next Old Town Area Panel meeting is on Tuesday, May 29, in The Old Town Community Centre, Central Avenue, 6.15pm-8.15pm. New members are always welcome - more details from secretary Cecile Slater, on 01323 832205.

ZUMBA classes are now being held in The Drive, Victoria Drive, on Tuesdays, 7pm-8pm for a fun exercise class to get your heart pumping and legs moving! Everyone is welcome as Charlotte, the instructor, will demonstrate each move before the music starts. The class costs just £5 and discounts are available for a 10-week advanced ticket.
