Down Your Way: Old Town - April 18

THE Sussex Wildife Trust, Eastbourne Group, April meeting will be as usual at the Victoria Baptist Church, Eldon Road, Eastbourne, BN21 1UE on Thursday, April 19, starting at 7.30pm at which there will be an illustrated talk on ‘The Sussex Wetland Project, including its importance to Otters and other Wildlife’ by Fran Southgate, Wetlands Project Officer for the Sussex Wildlife Trust.

The talk will be preceded by a short AGM. There is no charge to this meeting but donations would be appreciated. There is a large car park at the church and it should be noted for security reasons the entrance door will be locked shortly after the start. THE Old Town Area Panel committee meetings will now be held on the last Tuesday of every month at the Old Town Community Centre, 6.15om-8.15pm. New members are always welcome. Members of the panel will attend the Eastbourne Homes Conference on Saturday, April 21, at The Trade Union Building from 10-3pm.

A ONE-OFF self-defence workshop takes place at The Community Wise Centre, Ocklynge Road on Saturday, April 21, 10am-noon. The workshop costs £5 and is open to all. An experienced instructor will introduce simple, straightforward strategies to improve confidence. Book places on 01323 722924.

AS PART of the Eastbourne Festival is be an open house exhibition of paintings (oils, watercolours, and pastels) at 38 Cobbold Avenue, BN21 1UZ 11am-5pm by Christine Munro. It will open on April 21/ 22 and there will also be greetings cards for sale and refreshments available.
