Down Your Way: Langney and Shinewater - May 23
IT’S OFFICIAL! Road resurfacing for both Milfoil and Larkspur Drive is just around the corner. From June 6, work will be in operation for four days from East Sussex Highways and take place 7am-5pm.
Wet and freezing weather may cause delays we’re told as you can imagine - quite likely I suppose with our British summer! Signs will be set out in the event of date changes.
If you live in Milfoil, Larkspur or the off-roads, access will be maintained, but may be limited at times. The team says you should arrange access locally with the works supervisor or gatemen. On-street parking will also be restricted so you may have to make other arrangements. Bus routes will also be affected.
If you have any problems, I urge you to contact Highways Contact Centre on 0345 60 80 193. The service is available Monday to Thursday, 8.30am-5pm, and 8.30am-4.30pm Fridays. For the computer literate email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Finally, if you’re a bit of a twit...err...sorry twitter-er, then you can follow them @esccroads for news, updates and further info.
WE’VE also had news on the red structure in Sorrel Drive last week.It turns out it was testing the earth. A new build will take place shortly and an application has been put forward to demolish Avon Court. View the planning application at www.eastbourne.gov.uk/planning.
YEAR 11 students of Causeway School can collect GCSE results on Thursday August 23 between 10 and 11am. They’ll be available in the main hall. Year 9 and 10 students will be given their results at the start of term 1 in September.
DON’T forget, free youth activities are on offer at Langney Community Centre (soon to be called Langney Village Hall). DJ workshops, cooking, arts and crafts, dance, drama, music and more every Tuesday, 6pm-8pm. Staff are keen for young people to let them know what sort of activities they wish to see in the future too.
BISHOP Bell has received another accolade - recognised as a National Support School with Mr Boatwright designated as a National Leader of Education (NLE). The designation is made on behalf of the Government by the National College of School Leadership and means Bishop Bell and its staff are recognised for work with other schools to raise educational standard.

The meeting starts 5pm on Thursday (May 31) for chit chat and nibbles and officially begins from 6pm at Langney Resource Centre in Etchingham Road (underneath Wiltshire Court, opposite Langney Community Centre.
