ON Saturday, July 14, Eastbourne Rambling Club has a five-and-a-half mile leisurely ramble along the Lavender Line. Meet at The Avenue at 9.30am to arrange transport. There will be a coffee stop at Isfield Station. This walk is mainly on the level but there are some styles. There is also an eight-and-a-half mile brisk pace ramble around the Heathfield area on the same day. Meet at The Avenue at 9am. There is a public house stop at the end for refreshments.

ON Monday, July 16, there is an opportunity to meet with other carers over a cup of coffee in Green’s Cafe, Seaside Road (near T.J. Hughes), 10am-noon, to discuss with others the carer’s role, experiences and frustrations. There will be a relevant speaker from ‘Steps and Homeworks’.
These meetings are arranged by the ‘Care for Carers’ and are held on the third Monday of every month. All comments are treated with confidence unless permission is given for something to be referred back to the relevant support worker. More details from Francesca Middleton on 738390.
THE Olympic torch is due to pass through Eastbourne from shortly after 3pm on Tuesday, July 17, from Thomas a Beckett School, over Cavendish Bridge, into the town and seafront and then on to Bexhill and Hastings.
ON Wednesday, July 18, The Devonshire Park Evening Townswomen’s Guild has a social evening with a quiz in All Saint’s Church Hall, Grange Road, 7.15pm. Non members welcome.
TO MARK the 80th birthday of Sussex artist Harold Mockford, the Towner Gallery will display many of his paintings relating to this area, from July 14 to September 30.
THE Underground Theatre, down the steps of the Central Library, has been refurbished as an exhibition area, featuring paintings by Andrew Vollet, who runs the Levitate Gallery in Mark Lane. The opening hours have been extended to run during the coffee mornings and theatre productions.
