FOR ONLY the second time in our nation’s history, we celebrate a Diamond Jubilee, Queen Victoria did it in 1897, Queen Elizabeth II in 2012. Local celebrations will chime with national events in June, during a double Bank Holiday.

THERE is a North Hailsham and Hellingly Residents Association, go along to their open meeting at Union Corner Hall on Friday, May 4, 8pm to 9.30pm, and find out all about them. The Association has been revived by the publication of Wealden Development plan and greater interest in local affairs including traffic on the A271 and parking at Hawkes Farm School. THE Bonsai Club meets monthly at Hellingly village hall and on Easter Monday evening it saw keen bonsai club membersenjoy a fascinating talk and demonstration by David Penny about accent plants. Next month the club will prepare for the annual show. The show is on Saturday June 16 at Stone Cross Memorial Hall.
