Beautiful dipslays at Polegate spring show
Polegate Gardeners Society Spring Show at St John's Church
POLEGATE Gardeners’ Society held a blooming marvellous spring show on March 24.
Green-fingered locals took advantage of the unseasonally warm weather and some beautiful flowers were put forward for judging.
Show secretary Pat Reeve said, “With the unusual weather this year our members still produced some lovely Narcissi and there were plenty of other bulbs and flowers on display.
“We introduced a new cake and brought back an old favourite in the Domestic section which was inundated with a great display of cakes together with jars of marmalade and lemon curd.
“This year we had a very small entry in the wine and liqueur section and unless we have more participants this section will have to be reorganised.
“The paintings were of a very high standard and the Handicrafts proved to be very popular, taking over a very large section of the hall.
“With this year being a year of “Celebrations” the entries in this section and the “Wedding Anniversary” were all very good and different.”
The trophies were presented by Fred Gay, president of the society.
