Action group aims to help battle for better facilities

A HEALTH campaign action group is set to be launched in Seaford in a bid to bring the community together and see improved facilities in the town.

Residents, councillors and other individuals have been fighting for better health services in Seaford and now district and town councillor Sam Adeniji is keen to get as many people on board to make people’s voices heard.

The Buckle Drive resident has been speaking to different people health professionals, councillors and individuals to form a group called ‘Campaign for Action on Seaford Health’ (CASH).

People across Seaford have been battling for years to see improvements to its health facilities and were dealt a blow when the Primary Care Trust announced it could no longer support plans to provide a health facility partly due to financial constraints.

Cllr Adeniji, who said he has been working alongside Seaford MP Norman Baker, added, “Over the last few years the campaign for improved health services in Seaford has been driven by local politicians but if we are to succeed in our quest for improved health services in Seaford we must broaden this campaign to include as many local people as possible and enlist and utilise our skill set.

“The campaign can no longer be restricted to local politicians.

“I hope that by launching the health campaign action group CASH, we will be able to expand the efforts of our health campaign and hopefully be able to take the campaign to the upper echelons of power, for example to the Health Secretary in Whitehall and as far as Westminster.

“The voices of the people of Seaford must be heard.”

The 47-year-old, who set up a petition last year calling for improved health services, is hoping to formally launch the group in May this year and to meet with people to find out what immediate services are a priority.

Anyone who is interested in contributing or speaking at the proposed health campaign launch event or would like to support it should email Cllr Adeniji at: sam4Seaford@yahoo.co.uk.
