The chairman opened the May meeting with a thank-you to Eric Brett who was retiring from the committee after eight years of service.
He wished Eric and his wife all the best for the future, which was endorsed by the members present.
After some announcements he introduced the speaker for the day, Mr Carey, who gave a very interesting talk on his life in the air sea rescue service.
He explained how many bases there were, how they responded and the training required for the various incidents that they were required to carry out.
He answered several questions from the people present at the end of his talk. T
he meeting concluded with the raffle and bingo.
The first holiday of the year was to the Lake District, which was enjoyed by all who went, and this was followed by a day out to Leonardslee Gardens.
