Once a sapper always a sapper!
The branch monthly meeting was held at the Constitutional Club on Thursday September 25. Future events were discussed and the trip and pick-ups for the Carr/Taylor Vineyard visit at Westfields near Hastings on Thursday October 2 were finalised. Membe
rs were reminded of the corps AGM/dinner at the United Services Club, London on October 11. This is followed by Sapper Sunday at the Royal Hospital Chelsea the following day. Visits to the Royal Engineers Museum at RSME, The Dockyard Chatham and the Royal British Legion Poppy Factory at Guildford were also discussed – thoughts were that early 2009 might be the best time for these. Finally the next branch monthly meeting will be at the Constitutional Club, Seaside at 1pm on Thursday October 23 – a word of warning though – the club closes on October 31 so future monthly meetings starting January 2009 will be at Fisherman's Club. It is hoped to have a Christmas type lunch at the RAFA Club on Thursday November 27. Details will be given out at the next monthly meeting – members will be kept informed. The REA contact is: secretary – Bill Swainsbury on 648139. Members look forward to seeing any Sappers living in the Eastbourne, Hailsham, Heathfield, Bexhill, Uckfield and Seaford areas at the REA meetings/social occasions – don't wait for an invite, go along!
