Hailsham and District Flower Club

The September meeting saw Robert Tunks return to the club to give a demonstration titled Pleasures and Treasures – the 'treasures' being containers, plants or events that held a particular poignant memory to Mr Tunks and the 'pleasures' the enjoyment he and fellow flower arrangers get from arranging flowers and sharing their hobby with others.
The first arrangement really set the scene for the evening. The attention to detail and the meticulous care with which the foliage was chosen to complement the flowers and the containers was second to none. All the arrangements had such an array of different types of textures and colours blended together that the flowers nearly seemed superfluous to requirement. Of course it is the flowers that are the real show stoppers and which the audience like to see but the foliage and the backbones of the arrangement are also important. It was a lovely evening, hugely entertaining and carried out effortlessly with much flair. The next meeting will be a workshop run by the vice president which always proves to be popular and very well attended. Call the club secretary on 840593 for more information.
