Friends of Devonshire Park Theatre

IT was curtains up at the Devonshire Park Theatre on Sunday September 28 when the Friends once again opened the theatre for Eastbourne's Victorian Festival.
More than 130 visitors from home and abroad enjoyed the experience of a backstage tour. Two most eloquent Victorian guides led the tours, describing the history and background to the theatre and relating associated
anecdotes.
Displays of memorabilia were on show in the foyer including the Friends' scrap books. These showed much of the "behind the scenes" work completed by the Friends over many years; and the fun, enjoyment and camaraderie that it took in raising the funds.
The Friends apologise to those who turned up after 1pm, and hope that they will look out for further tours that may take place next year.
On Saturday October 25 the Friends are to hold their autumn fair at St John's hall, Meads (on the corner of Meads Street and Meads Road – No 3 bus passes the door). There will be a variety of stalls, and coffee/tea and cake will be on sale.
