President Lynda Brown welcomed members to the September meeting and thanked Phyl Bloomfield for the arrangement of dark red dahlias and
variegated foliage. Lynda announced that the Christmas lunch will be held at the beginning of December at the Hydro Hotel.
Secretary Audrey Hurst listed the current and forthcoming events arranged by the federation.
After the tea break, Mr R Harris gave an illustrated talk on a year with nature at Darwell Reservoir near Robertsbridge where Mr Harris counts resident and visiting waterfowl through the year and reports numbers to the British Trust for Ornithology. This was a fascinating subject and his slides were excellent. Sheila Markham gave a most appreciative vote of thanks.
Butts Brow WI is a friendly group and welcomes visitors to the meetings, 2.15pm on the fourth Thursday in the month at Willingdon Memorial Hall, Church Street. For further details telephone 501980.
